Bluestone Herefords are proud to be the sole supplier of Hereford genetics in New Zealand to CRV Ambreed. Throughout our partnership, we have advanced the Bluestone Hereford genetics. We have also placed significance on the balance of needing carcass data of our animals to allow the resulting progeny to finish easily.

FertaBull is a product that includes the semen from three top-quality bulls which have our key traits. Having semen from three bulls increases the length of semen viability, therefore, giving a greater chance of getting the cow in calf. Research has shown that there is an increased conception rate by up to 9%. This is done by exploiting the natural variation of sperm from different bulls (known as capacitation). By combining semen from three bulls with different capacities rates in one straw there is a longer window of opportunity to fertilise eggs that may be released at different times.

Hereford X dairy progeny are easily identifiable in the paddock and gives a high-value beef cross offspring for sale. These animals are sought after by finishers in the beef industry.

 

Bluestone Herefords have been supplying Worldwide Sires with semen for the dairy industry since 2015. With emphasis on short gestation, calving ease and low birthweight plus now homozygous polled.

Bluestone Invictus is the current sire for Worldwide sires. Invictus is in the Top 1% for Calving Ease and Gestation length and Top 5% for birth weight.

Bluestone Herefords supply semen for conventional straws and Sexed Ultra 4M. The ability for dairy farmers to be able to use sexed straws over cows not required for replacement stock gives more progeny of higher value – ie. all male. The Bluestone male semen in the Sexed Ultra 4M is low birth weight and short gestation with calving ease.

The benefits of Sexed Ultra 4M:

  • 4 million cells per straw (twice as many as in previous sexed ultra produced by some competitors)

  • Conception rates using Sexed Ultra 4M are now close to those achieved using conventional semen straw

  • Gender accuracy consistently over 90%
